Café Padrino
The Godfather of Gourmet Coffee

Our History, our Mission

Since the late 1800’s, the Perez family has grown coffee in the Acatenango region of Guatemala, bringing economic and  ecological benefit to the area. Through the sale of coffee, the  family-owned plantation helped finance a community road  construction project which  included the construction of seven bridges. The plantation provided funds and manual labor as well as donated and transported project materials.

Over the years the coffee plantation has endured many adversities. The eruption of the Volcano Fuego, the 1976 earthquake as well as Guatemala’s 36 year civil war brought hardship to the coffee farming industry.  In spite of these challenges, the Perez family gives much thanks to God for His help during those difficult times and for His constant protection and provision for their family and their plantationworkers.

.
Since 1998, the productivity of the plantation has been effected by the drop in international coffee prices and high production costs.  This has affected the quantity of coffee production, but never the quality.  Despite the many difficulties, the plantation has continually improved the working and living conditions for its employees as well as ensured fair compensation. The crisis resulting from low coffee prices has caused the coffee plantation to better manage their resources and focus their attention on the quality of the coffee produced. The Acatenango Region and The Perez Plantation of Guatemala is recognized for its production of fine gourmet coffee and is proud to offer you ...
